Queensland Independent Schools Block Grant Authority (QIS BGA) operates as an authority under both Australian and Queensland Government legislation, receiving capital funds from both levels of government. QIS BGA distributes these funds as grants to Queensland independent schools to provide financial assistance for capital projects through the assessment of funding applications and the administration of grants in strict accordance with established funding guidelines.
QIS BGA promotes and supports schools to deliver value-for-money educational facilities that align with contemporary educational philosophy and practice. QIS BGA has three core functions in its administration of capital grants programs:

Capital Program
The Capital Program consists of the Australian Government Capital Grants Program (CGP) and the State Capital Assistance Scheme (SCAS). The programs provide funds to support Queensland independent schools in constructing educational, boarding and distance education facilities.

New School Funding
QIS BGA administers capital funding under CGP and SCAS to assist Approved Authorities establish new independent schools and campuses across Queensland.

Master Plan Grants
Master Plan Grants are funded through the Australian Government Capital Grants Program. A well-crafted site master plan is crucial to a school's site planning as it guarantees that a school's built assets align with its strategic goals and are phased correctly and within budget constraints.

External Infrastructure Subsidy Scheme
The External Infrastructure Subsidy Scheme (EIS) applies to accredited independent school sites where an approval to develop a school-based capital project issued by the State, a local government authority or other relevant entity requires new or improved external infrastructure or new infrastructure charge contributions.
