How we work

We are accessible

QIS BGA makes itself accessible by encouraging school leaders and their design consultants to make a phone call or arrange meetings to discuss:

  • The planning, design, delivery and activation of a project
  •  A funding application.

During these conversations, BGA staff seek to provide information to enable school leaders to make the right decisions for their individual project and school. The desired outcomes are to ensure all schools:

  • Have equitable assistance, regardless of their size or resources, as they navigate the planning, design, funding, delivery and activation process
  • Are empowered, ensuring they are well informed and supported throughout the planning, design, submission, delivery and activation process so that applications are complete and reflective of a school’s individual needs, and the resultant project is consistent with best practices in building design, construction and operation
  • Can benefit from the valuable knowledge of the BGA team, and the BGA can build and create learning resources and enhance capacity across the sector through a deep understanding of its members’ experiences and needs.

We are participatory

QIS BGA in its decision-making regarding capital funding being considered through an established and expert advisory committee comprising the Company's Directors and nominees from important sectors of the Independent School sector.

We are sensitive

In assessing Capital Program applications, QIS BGA visits each applicant school to ensure the request for capital assistance reflects the necessities of legislation and the guidelines by which QIS BGA is obliged to operate; and most importantly, to ensure that the visit team understand the unique circumstances of the school.

The visit team is made up on two advisory committee members (one expert in education and buildings, and the other expert in Independent School financial management) and two QIS BGA staff.
